Not Together.
Days of Distancing. Day 59.
On March 28th, on the eve of the shelter in place orders, I photographed this very same mural.
Now at a different moment, I see it in a different light, less a promise and more an accusation of a failed future.
While we are all most certainly here together, its hard to feel like we are "in" this together. The educated worked from home, the poor were either laid off or told to work in dangerous conditions.
People made tremendous personal sacrifices to just slow the spread, but yet little progress has been made in any real deploying of any systems that would protect people. And now it feels like some just want to give up, say let it be, everyone just protect themselves.
We should feel betrayed. We were never in this together.
